High-ticket marketing, defined.
50 terms from Meta ads, VSL and webinar funnels, sales teams and unit economics, each defined in one sentence and backed by numbers from accounts I've run.
A
- Ad AngleAn ad angle is the core idea or motivation an ad speaks to, such as saving time or making more money, independent of the format or the specific creative used to deliver it.
- Ad CreativeAn ad creative is one individual ad a person sees: the script, visuals and format that carry one angle to one persona. A re-edit of the same footage is not a new ad creative.
- Ad FrequencyAd frequency is the average number of times one person sees your ads over a period, so a frequency of 15 to 20 means each person saw your ads 15 to 20 times.
- Application FormAn application form is a short set of qualifying questions a prospect answers before booking a sales call, so only people who fit and can afford the offer reach your calendar.
- Appointment SetterAn appointment setter is the person who contacts new leads, confirms they're qualified and gets them onto a closer's calendar, so closers spend their time only on sales calls.
- Average Deal SizeAverage deal size is the revenue from closed deals divided by the number of deals closed, which tells you what one new client is worth on the first sale.
B
C
- Call Quality RateCall quality rate is the percentage of held sales calls where the prospect is actually qualified to buy: the right fit, the budget and the authority to decide.
- Close RateClose rate is the percentage of sales calls that turn into paying clients. I measure it on qualified calls held, not on all calls booked, so ad and funnel problems don't hide inside the sales number.
- Cold TrafficCold traffic is people who have never heard of you before seeing your ad. They have no trust in you yet, so the funnel has to educate and qualify them before a sales call.
- Confirmation PageA confirmation page is the page a prospect lands on right after booking a sales call. In a high-ticket funnel it confirms the booking and starts preparing the prospect for the call.
- Conversions APIThe Conversions API (CAPI) is Meta's server-side connection for sending conversion events from your CRM to Meta, so the algorithm optimizes toward the event you choose, such as a qualified booked call.
- Cost Per Booked CallCost per booked call is the ad spend divided by the number of sales calls booked from it. For high-ticket offers sold on a call, it's the cost metric that predicts revenue, unlike cost per lead.
- Cost Per ClickCost per click (CPC) is the average amount you pay Meta each time someone clicks your ad. On a high-ticket call funnel it's an input to the funnel math, not a target, because a click proves nothing about the buyer.
- Cost Per LeadCost per lead (CPL) is the ad spend divided by the number of leads, usually form submissions or opt-ins. For high-ticket offers it's a misleading target on its own, because cheap leads often never book or buy.
- Creative TestingCreative testing is the structured process of launching new ad angles and creatives with a fixed budget and judging them against a target cost per result, to find the ads worth scaling.
- Customer Acquisition CostCustomer acquisition cost (CAC) is the total spend needed to win one new paying customer, usually ad spend plus any sales costs, divided by the number of customers won.
D
F
- Front-End OfferA front-end offer is the first thing a new customer buys from you. It's designed to win the customer and pay for acquiring them, before any bigger or recurring offer.
- Funnel Drop-offFunnel drop-off is the share of people lost at each step of a funnel, from ad click to video view to application to booked call to close.
H
- High-Ticket OfferA high-ticket offer is a product or service priced high enough, usually several thousand dollars or more, that buyers expect to speak to someone before purchasing, so it's sold through a sales call.
- Horizontal ScalingHorizontal scaling means growing Meta ad spend by launching a proven ad angle in new formats and new ads, instead of only raising the budget on the ad set that is already working.
I
L
- Landing PageA landing page is the page a prospect reaches after clicking an ad. In a high-ticket funnel it holds the VSL, the proof and the application button, and its one job is getting the right person to apply.
- Lifetime ValueLifetime value (LTV) is the total revenue a customer brings in over the whole relationship, from the first payment to the last.
- LTV to CAC RatioLTV to CAC ratio is a customer's lifetime value divided by what it cost to acquire them, showing how many times over a customer repays the spend that won them.
M
- Market SophisticationMarket sophistication is how many similar claims and offers a market has already heard, which decides whether a plain promise still works or only a mechanism explaining how it works will cut through.
- Meta AndromedaMeta Andromeda is the ad retrieval system Meta began rolling out in mid-2025. It decides which ads to show each person and rewards accounts that supply a wide variety of creative ideas.
- Meta PixelThe Meta pixel is a piece of code on your website that reports what visitors do, such as loading a page or submitting a form, back to Meta so it can optimize and measure your ads.
- Monthly Recurring RevenueMonthly recurring revenue (MRR) is the predictable revenue a subscription or retainer business collects every month from active customers.

P
- Payback PeriodPayback period is the time it takes for the revenue from a client to cover what you spent to acquire them, after which that client turns profitable.
- Pre-Call SequenceA pre-call sequence is everything a prospect receives between booking a sales call and the call itself: confirmation, reminders, a setter call and proof content that prepare them to buy.

R
- RetargetingRetargeting is showing ads to people who have already interacted with your business, such as visiting your page or booking a call, to keep them engaged until they buy.
- Return on Ad SpendReturn on ad spend (ROAS) is the revenue generated divided by the ad spend that generated it. A 4x ROAS means every $1 spent on ads brought back $4 in revenue.
- Revenue Per Booked CallRevenue per booked call is the revenue a batch of sales calls produced divided by the number of calls booked. It's what one booked call is worth, which sets what you can pay for one.
S
- Sales CloserA sales closer is the person who runs the sales call with a qualified prospect and asks for the sale. In high-ticket funnels, closers usually earn commission on revenue collected.
- Sales CycleA sales cycle is the time from a prospect's first contact with your business to a signed deal, including every call and follow-up in between.
- Sales ScriptA sales script is the planned sequence a closer follows on a sales call, from the prospect's problem to the ask. The useful kind is a structure that adapts to the call, not lines read word for word.
- Scaling Ad SpendScaling ad spend means raising the budget on campaigns that are hitting their target cost per result, without breaking the performance that justified the increase.
- Show RateShow rate is the percentage of booked sales calls where the prospect actually turns up, calculated as calls held divided by calls booked.
- Speed to LeadSpeed to lead is the time between a prospect booking or opting in and the first human contact from your team. In high-ticket call funnels I aim for 3 to 5 minutes after the booking.

V
- Video Sales LetterA video sales letter (VSL) is a short sales video on a landing page that explains the problem, your mechanism and your offer, then asks qualified viewers to apply or book a sales call.
- VIP UpsellA VIP upsell is a paid upgrade offered right after someone registers for a free webinar or event, such as extra access or a recording, that also identifies the most serious buyers.
- VSL FunnelA VSL funnel is a paid traffic funnel that sends cold ad clicks to a landing page with a short video sales letter, then an application, a calendar and a pre-call sequence before the sales call.
W
- Warm TrafficWarm traffic is people who already know your business, such as followers, email subscribers and past leads, so they arrive with some trust before seeing your offer.
- Webinar FunnelA webinar funnel is a sales funnel that sends ad traffic to a registration page for a live or automated presentation, then sells a sales call or the offer itself to attendees.
