Call Quality Rate

Call quality rate is the percentage of held sales calls where the prospect is actually qualified to buy: the right fit, the budget and the authority to decide.

Why track call quality separately?

Because it tells you whether the funnel is filtering. A full calendar of people who can't buy looks like success in the ad account and like failure on the sales floor. When call quality drops, the closer's time goes to prospects who were never going to buy, and close rate falls for reasons that have nothing to do with the closer.

What's a good call quality rate?

My benchmark is 80% of held calls qualified. On a brand-new agency offer, 71 of the 97 prospects who showed up were qualified, a 73.2% call quality rate. That's slightly under benchmark, and it pointed at one fix: the application form could filter harder.

Stage Benchmark
Show rate 80% of booked calls
Call quality rate 80% of held calls
Close rate 30% of qualified calls

How do you improve call quality?

Most of it happens before the booking, in the application:

  • Use 3 to 6 questions, with at least one about the business (who they are) and one financial qualifier (whether they can pay).
  • Put the contact details in the second half, so people who drop out early haven't cost you anything.
  • Route the unqualified answers away from your Meta pixel, so the algorithm learns to find more of the qualified people instead of more form-fillers.

FAQ

Is it better to have more calls or better calls?

Better calls, until your closers have spare capacity. Low-quality calls cost the same to book and take the same calendar time as good ones.
