Appointment Setter
An appointment setter is the person who contacts new leads, confirms they're qualified and gets them onto a closer's calendar, so closers spend their time only on sales calls.
What does a setter do in a paid funnel?
Two jobs. First, speed: the setter calls every new booking within 3 to 5 minutes, while the prospect's intent is at its peak, confirms the call and answers early questions. Second, filtering: the setter checks the prospect is a real fit before a closer's hour is spent on them. Both raise show rate and call quality without changing the ads.
When should you hire a setter?
When volume justifies it. Under about $10,000 to $20,000 a month in revenue, with one channel working, scale that channel first and add a setter once the calls coming in are more than you can handle personally. For B2C coaches who sell through Instagram and Facebook DMs, a setter is often the first sales hire.
How do you pay a setter?
Tie their pay to outcomes. In the partnerships I run, setters are funded from my side of the revenue share, and closers are paid on commission so they only earn when the client collects. That keeps everyone focused on qualified calls that close, not on the number of calls booked.
What setters change in the numbers
The setter call is one of the three parts of the pre-call sequence I install, and that sequence has increased show rates by up to 34% in my accounts. Two accounts in my case studies held 91% and 92% of booked calls.
FAQ
Can automation replace a setter?
Email and SMS reminders handle the timing, but a human call within minutes of booking is what makes a cold prospect feel committed to showing up.
