Done-for-You

Done-for-you is a service model where the provider builds and runs the work for the client instead of teaching them to do it. In client acquisition, an outside team runs the ads, funnel and follow-up.

Who buys done-for-you?

Buyers whose real constraint is time, not know-how. When I help someone position an offer, I picture a barbell. One end is done-for-you, sold to a smaller, richer market of busy professionals, where lifetime value carries the economics. The other end is done-with-you, sold to a mass market with cheaper traffic. Both work. The middle is where offers die: buyers too advanced to want a course and too broke for the done-for-you version.

For my own done-for-you work, the businesses I work best with have at least $15,000 in lifetime value per client, because that leaves room to pay for the service and still buy calls on cold traffic.

How is done-for-you priced?

Higher than the taught version of the same skill, because the client is paying for the labor as well as the knowledge. Some examples from my own material:

Offer Model Price
My coaching on the call funnel system Taught: the client builds it Starting at $500 a month
SaaS onboarding and activation Done-for-you front end $3K to $10K, collected upfront
Premium inner circle in a coaching business Done-for-you back end At least $10K per client

Why do SaaS companies add a done-for-you layer?

Because it moves payback to day one. At $100 a month, generating $5,100 from one customer takes 51 months of retention. A $3K to $10K done-for-you activation package sold through the same ad funnel can generate that in 90 days, and the customer moves onto the subscription once they're activated.

What's the catch with selling done-for-you?

It scales with labor. An agency has low fixed and high variable costs: it's cheap to start, and every new client costs more to serve than the last one. The fix is to narrow it to a specific problem for a specific person, solved in a specific way, so every client goes through the same onboarding and the same path and cheaper people can run the process.

It also works best where few people need to buy it. At the top of a coaching business's ladder, a premium done-for-you inner circle with 50 clients paying at least $10K is $500,000 a year.

FAQ

Is done-for-you better than coaching?

Neither is better in general. Done-for-you buys speed when your constraint is time and the budget is there, and coaching keeps the skill in-house when you can put in the hours. I compare the two in coaching vs done-for-you.

What's the difference between done-for-you and done-with-you?

Who does the implementation. With done-for-you the provider builds and runs it. With done-with-you the client does the work with guidance, and it usually sells to a bigger market with cheaper traffic.
